We can restore America by Co-opting it back to the people

I'm in the process of writing a book about my socio-political-economic philosophy I'm calling "cooperativism". The values of cooperativism are quite simple, yet profound. I support a less coercive society that is more cooperative and voluntary in nature. I support returning power in all areas of life whether it be in the political, social, economic, or religious arenas directly to the people for which they are supposed to benefit. I support a more democratic and decentralized society that allows for greater equality in all areas of life; and one that is less hierarchical in structure.
My philosophy is ultimately rooted in Christian thought, namely the golden rule of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "love your neighbor as yourself". I'm also indebted to many philosophical traditions such as philosophical anarchism, libertarianism, and constitutionalism. I do need to be careful because some of these traditions are not well understood by the general public. You say words like anarchism and people think of chaos or those that support violent overthrow of the government. But philosocial anarchism has a rich heritage of thought that is rooted in many different traditions. All anarchists share the same values of a non coercive/voluntary society that is more egalitarian, democratic, and decentralized. The Founder of modern anarchist thought was Pierre Joseph Proudhon who if you were to study him would actually share much of the same values that Thomas Jefferson and our founding fathers would. Anarchism was heavily influenced by classical liberalism which is what Jefferson held to. Classical liberalism has roots going way back to thinkers such as John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau as well as Anglo traditions as seen within the Magna Carta.
Cooperativism is much in the same vain as Jefferson and Proudhon and is rooted in self reliance as well as the people working together directly in solidarity to resolve problems rather then waiting around for some impersonal centralized entity to fix our problems. People today seem to be waiting to see what Congress or the Corporate world is going to do to find all our solutions to the problems that we face as a society. What will Congress do to fix healthcare, education, etc. Instead of waiting for a politicalian to bring help to us why don't we band together and fix our own problems? That is the heart of cooperativism. If you want to fix healthcare why not get enough people together and form a nonprofit healthcare cooperative that is owned by all its members including the patients, doctors, nurses, and staff. We don't need to wait to see what Congress or the for profit healthcare corporations are going to do. Same is true for education, unemployment, poverty, etc as we will investigate over the coming weeks and months. I'm very excited to be exploring all the possibilities of people working together cooperatively to resolve problems and make our nation a better place.
I believe the beauty of cooperativism that it is values driven and not ideological in scope. I may share certain commonalities with libertarians, constitutionalists, anarchists, etc, but i retain my Independence. Cooperativism is a positive, inclusive, and flexible philosophy. Its positive in that we seek positive solutions and to work with people rather then creating an us versus them mentality. We would rather light a candle then curse the darkness. Its inclusive in that we can work with all people regardless of their political or social ideology. If they agree with our values we can find common ground. I envision a cooperative platform that I believe people from diverse backgrounds can rally around. Cooperativism is flexible in its approach. We are committed to our values and not locked into a set ideology or blue print as to how we get there.
